250 years ago on Sept 6, 1776 the inventor of the Turtle Submarine launched the submersible on it’s first ever combat mission.  After the war David Bushnell, the Turtle’s inventor, settled in Georgia. He helped found Warrenton and served as a doctor and teacher.  Warren County is throwing a party, the Turtle Fest, to celebrate its most famous Revolutionary War Hero!

Saturday 9/5 the celebration begins with a parade, events and vendors through the day. Revolutionary re-enactors, Cannons, Muskets, Music, traditional clogging, and history of Georgia’s role in the Revolutionary war. Crafts and Games for young and old! Downtown Warrenton.

Sunday 9/6 there will be a wreath laying hosted by the SAR and DAR at the memorial cenotaph in the city cemetery from 2 pm until 4 pm, followed by an RSVP/reservation only reception.
